Project lead for the evaluation of technology for treatment and discharge of excess water stored on site. Executed on-site piloting of a unique and integrated sulphate treatment system using nanofiltration followed by scoping level engineering and risk assessment to support full scale implementation. Represented proponent for regulatory and First Nations engagement via Technical Advisory Committee and associated reporting. Prepared roadmap for engineering required to support permit application.

Recovery of Nickel and Cobalt from Mineral Tailings with Ion Exchange

Developed a novel process for capture of nickel and cobalt from laterite tailings and recovery of otherwise lost metal value in existing metallurgical flow sheets. This program involved broader study of the use of ion exchange for mine waste remediation and collaboration with a major ion exchange manufacturer to develop new ion exchange resins.

Pyrite Catalysis of Chalcopyrite Leaching

Conducted electrochemical studies to investigate the kinetics of atmospheric chalcopyrite leaching and the role of pyrite in catalyzing this process. Developed mathematical models of reaction kinetics of various sulphide minerals.
